Dr Shem Wambugu Maingi has co-authored a book titled Tourism Destination Management in a Post-Pandemic Context. The book has four editors from different countries across the globe – Dr. Vanessa Gowreesunkar from the island of Mauritius, Dr. Shem Maingi from Kenya (Kenyatta University), Dr. Hiran Roy from Canada, and Dr. Roberto Micera from Italy. The book is a timely strategy providing timely solutions to tourism destinations globally, as following the COVID-19 outbreak, most countries were struggling to develop their coping capacities to save their tourism economies. The uniqueness of this book is that it draws from case studies and success stories from a variety of destinations from Europe, America, Asia, Africa, Indonesia and islands.
It is a matter of pride that the function was graced by eminent personalities such as the Minister of Tourism and Wildlife of Kenya, the CEO of WTTC, the UNESCO Chair on Inclusive Museums and Sustainable Heritage Development, the CEO of African Tourism Board, Vice Chancellors of universities, Emerald representatives and series editors.
