Optimising the impact of your research

Visibility and impact of research as a tool for evaluating researchers and awarding research funds is becoming increasingly important. Having accomplished the often daunting task of publishing your work in the right journal, you need to actively embark on optimizing the impact of your work. Here are a few basic tips on improving your citation count.

  1. Create a Google scholar profile.
  2. Submit your research to the library (library@ku.ac.ke) for uploading to the Kenyatta University Institutional Repository.
  3. Get an author id. This helps you showcase your research from one account and track your citation counts. Examples of author ids are ORCID (Open Researcher & Contributor ID), and ResearcherID . The great thing is that once you create an account in either of the two the data can be shared.
  4. Other platforms that will make your research more visible are Researchgate, LinkedinAcademic.edu and Kudos

Remember to keep your account profiles updated.

Nb: Your profile should be as complete as possible. Use your corporate email and get your affiliation right!
