Biography
Dr. Njoroge joined Kenyatta University in June 2011 as the Chief University Librarian. Prior to joining Kenyatta University, Dr. Njoroge worked at Strathmore University since November 2008 as the University Librarian.
Before joining Strathmore he worked with Moi University for twenty years, eight of which he was the head of library services in Chepkoilel campus. He has taught for many years in the school of information Science (library automation) and School of Science in the department of Computer Science
After finishing his Bachelors degree in 1985, he was posted to Kenyatta high school Mwatate where he taught physics and chemistry for two years. In November 1987 he joined Moi University as a graduate trainee librarian.During this period he was able to appreciate the information science profession and was awarded a scholarship in 1990 to do his postgraduate studies in librarianship at the University of Wales, Aberystwyth UK. In 1991 he was again awarded a scholarship to do his masters in the same University and graduate with a masters in Librarianship in October 1992. On return he worked in the Technical Services department of the Library and in 1995 he took over as the head, a post he held until 1999 when he went for an advanced certificate in modern information management at the University of Potsdam, Germany. On his return in 2000 he was posted to Moi University Chepkoilel Campus as the college librarian a post he held until October 2008.While in Chepkoilel he registered for his PhD in the School of Information Science Moi university. He is currently the Chief University Librarian Kenyatta University.
Dr. Gitau holds the following degrees: Bachelor of Education (1985) University of Nairobi, Postgraduate diploma in Librarianship (1991) and a Master of science in Librarianship (1992) from University of Wales, Aberystwyth UK and a PhD in Information Sciences, Moi University. He is married and blessed with two children
